Most Ionian city quays operate first-come, first-served with no advance reservations possible. That works fine if you're flexible and arrive early. But—and this is a real problem in August—places like Fiskardo and Gaios fill up hard. If you're rolling in after 4 PM in July or August, you're gambling [2].
Fiskardo itself has only 35 berths, and summer conditions show it gets genuinely crowded [1]. You can call ahead though—Theodorus at Fiskardo harbour is reachable on +30 6907048814 or VHF Channel 10. Fiskardo management actually recommends advanced reservations during high season. Same with Vathy (Ithaca)—it's managed by the same port authority, so a single call can sometimes lock things down.
Meganisi is the only place in the Ionian where advance reservations are reliably possible, but even there it's only a few days ahead.
If you're planning a 7-day Lefkas itinerary and you're sailing in June or May instead of August, this whole problem evaporates [3]. Anchorages are rarely overcrowded outside peak season, prices drop 30-40%, and you keep your flexibility.
If you're committed to July or August, phone the main ports before you sail. It takes ten minutes and removes a real source of end-of-day stress. If you can shift your dates to June or May, you've solved the problem entirely.
