Port de la Flotte sits on the charming Île de Ré, just across the water from La Rochelle, and gives you access to one of France's most picturesque island villages — think whitewashed houses, a medieval harbor, and excellent oysters within walking distance. Tidal access applies here, so plan your arrivals and departures around the tide windows: roughly 3 hours either side of high water in summer, and set daytime slots in the off-season. La Rochelle's massive 5,000+ berth main port is a short sail away if you need bigger marina facilities or provisioning.
