Porto Cervo sits at the heart of the Costa Smeralda, one of the Mediterranean's most glamorous stretches of coast, and dropping the hook here puts you right in the thick of it — superyachts, designer boutiques, and lively waterfront restaurants all within reach by dinghy. Fair warning though: anchoring is officially prohibited in the bay, so treat this as a opportunistic stop when you need shelter rather than a planned overnight, and be ready to move on if asked. If a westerly or northwesterly is building, nearby Cala Bitta is your best bail-out for serious protection.
