Our Lady of the Castle

Panagia tou Kastrou — 'Our Lady of the Castle' — is Rhodes' largest surviving Byzantine church, tucked inside the Old Town and originally built in the 11th century. What makes it genuinely fascinating is its layered history: it's been a Byzantine church, a Roman Catholic church, and a Muslim mosque at different points, depending on who was ruling Rhodes at the time. That kind of religious reincarnation in a single building is rare, and you can feel the weight of those overlapping histories when you're standing inside.
