Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: All yachts have third party liability insurance, personal accident insurance, and comprehensive insurance with self-participation. Personal property of guests is not insured.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — a skipper comes with this boat and holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring pets on board?
Pets are only allowed if arranged with us in advance, so please ask before booking. You'll also need to keep within the agreed crew numbers and not exceed the passengers listed on your crew list.
Are there limits on where and how I can sail?
Yes. You must stay within Croatian waters, avoid night sailing without our consent, and not leave a safe berth when winds exceed 25 knots. Racing and regattas aren't permitted, and fishing or diving require the proper permits.
Will my sailing ability be checked at handover?
Yes. If either you or we feel during the takeover that you can't safely navigate the yacht, you'll need to book a skipper, charged per our price list. You should bring your boating and radio qualification certificates to check-in.
What's included in the charter price?
Full use of the yacht and its equipment is included, along with bed linen, towels, dinghy, navigation electronics, WiFi and home-port mooring. Mooring away from the home port, port fees and the local tourist tax are extra.
What should I do if there's damage or an accident during the charter?
Inform us immediately, take photos, and for damage involving people or other vessels file a report with the harbour master. For minor wear-related repairs you can arrange fixes up to a set limit and we'll reimburse you on presenting the invoice; please keep any replaced parts.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
